Season of lent

Someone asked me what was Ash Wednesday..
I'm suppose, not much people know about this.
Since, the season of lent is sort of the season for repentance,
I was thinking about sharing the word of God (not really, just the occasions)
:|

this is how a typical Catholic lady using a veil . (photo from google)

picture above is on Ash Wednesday, as you can notice the cross ash on their forehead.

For simple understanding, the season of Lent is a Christian Tradition. Lent is a time of sacrifice for Jesus.
So during this season of time, we Christian prepare ourselves through prayers, confessions, repentance, fasting, good deeds and etc for the day.

Ash Wednesday is basically the first day for the season of lent.
It is the day where placing ashes on the foreheads of adherents as a sign of mourning and repentance to God.
These ashes used are from the palms that are burned from the previous year's .

If you don't understand what's Palm Sunday.
Photo below will explain it to you for a clearer picture of the event.

Palm Sunday in the Philippines (google)

Palm Sunday happens the week before Easter Sunday.
Palm Sunday is the welcoming of Jesus to Jerusalem in the days before He was crucified.
Palm Sunday is also known as Passion Sunday.

As I assume, most people only have heard about Good Friday (because it's a public holiday?)
hahah.
However, before Good Friday, we have Maundy Thursday also known as Holy Thursday.
On this day itself commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles

Last Supper of Jesus Christ and his Apostles
on the same day itself, we have the foot washing.

Foot washing

Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. During supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?” Jesus answered him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.” Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.”Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!” 10 Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, “Not all of you are clean.”
12 When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

John 13:1-17

the next day would be Good Friday, on this day, we normally has station of the cross.

Good Friday.

Good Friday is the day when Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross in Calvary.
On this day, we fast only with bread and water. However, it depends on each individual wills.

During Good Friday, we have the kissing of the foot of Jesus Christ.

Kissing of the feet. (googled)

Now, I am proceeding with Holy Saturday.
Holy Saturday is the last day before Easter Sunday.
Holy Saturday in Latin is known as Sabbatum Sanctum.
This day commemorates the day that Jesus Christ's body lay in the tomb.

And, during that night Midnight, we have mass that is known as Easter Vigil. :)

I hope you Christians, repent your sin and reflects all the action you have done all this while.
May God keep you in the right track.

Jesus said to Martha: "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."

Amen :)
